I cannot read Chinese on my PC. What should I do?

We highly recommend customers to use Chinese Windows for viewing Chinese.

You can download and install the Chinese Font Pack from Microsoft and one of the following third-party Chinese plug-in systems to read Chinese. They support Windows 95 / 98 / ME / NT / 2000.

Windows 2000 / XP
Chinese support is built in to Windows 2000 / XP, please enable with the following procedure:
Enable East Asian Language Support
  • In the 'Start' menu, select 'Settings' and 'Control Panel';
  • Double-click 'Regional and Language Options';
  • Click 'Language' tab;
  • Under 'Supplemental Language Support' section, check 'Install files for East Asian Languages' options and 'Apply' if it is not checked; and
  • You may need your Windows installation CD. After the installation, you are able to use Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
  • Enable Chinese typing
  • Click 'Details' under the 'Language' tab;
  • In the 'Setting' tab, click 'Add'; and
  • Select the appropriate Chinese input method in the 'Input Language' list.

    Why does the trading platform not display after I login?

    It is most likely that you have installed a toolbar/software, which has the 'Pop-up Blocker' function, meaning that the trading platform cannot be opened. Please check if you have installed such toolbar/software, e.g. Google Toolbar, Yahoo Companion Toolbar, or Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).

    To ensure the normal functioning of our trading platform, we recommend the below action:
    Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)
  • If you have installed the Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), please read How to turn off the Pop-up Blocker in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) Internet Explorer? to disable the 'Pop-up Blocker' function.
  • Firefox
  • Click on the 'Options' button in the message bar, and select 'Allow pop-up windows from this website'. Then open the trading platform again, or
  • Go to 'Tools' > 'Options' > 'Content' > 'Block pop-up windows', and click 'Exceptions', and enter the address of our website and click 'Allow'.
  • Google toolbar
  • Click on the 'Blocked' button in the Google toolbar, and always allow popups from our website , or
  • Uninstall the Google toolbar (you need to close all your browsers and login our website again after uninstallation).
  • Yahoo! Companion toolbar
  • Click on the 'Pop-Up Blocker' button in the Yahoo toolbar, then uncheck 'Enable Pop-Up Blocker' to disable the 'Pop-up blocker'
  • Always allow pop-ups from our website, or
  • Uninstall the Yahoo! Companion toolbar (you need to close all your browsers and login to our website again after uninstallation).

    For other toolbars/software, you may try out the corresponding settings.

    At the top of Internet Explorer browser: Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN settings -> Proxy Server, you will see the Address and Port.

    How can I print out the screen for my records?

    If you are using IE, you can choose 'File' then 'Print', and then select the frame (usually the lower in our case) you want to print.

    The daily eStatement and Research Reports are in PDF format.

    Why are the Streaming Real-time Stock Quotes Services data not displaying properly?

    To use the Streaming Real-time Quotes Service (“SRTQ service”), please make sure that you are using the HTML5-supported browsers.

    HTML5-supported browsers include:

    • Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 or newer
    • Mozilla Firefox 39 or newer
    • Google Chrome 31 or newer


    • If you cannot use the SRTQ service in Safari for Mac or iPhone/iPad, please enable cookie before using the SRTQ service. You can reset to your previous cookie setting after the quote data is displayed properly.

    Stock Options

    What should I do if 'Stock Options Trader Pro' on my desktop is displaying garbage characters?

    1. Go to 'Start' -> 'Control Panel'; Choose 'Regional and Language Options'.
     
    2. In 'Regional and Language Options', choose 'Advanced' tab.
     
    3. Select the Language for non-Unicode program. If you wan to read Traditional Chinese, please choose 'Chinese (Taiwan)'. If you want to read Simplified Chinese, please choose 'Chinese (PRC)'.
     
    4. Click 'Apply' button, the system will require you to restart the Windows.
     
    5. After the Windows is restarted, you can see the correct language coding.
