Q&A

1. Why SHK CIES Discretionary Portfolio Management Services?
A: Investment immigration consultancy services available on the market usually do not provide specialised investment consultation, and the investment might not be under professional management. Nevertheless, SHK CIES Discretionary Portfolio Management Services manages tailor-made investment portfolios based on each client's risk profile and expected return. SHK Fund Management Limited provides professional asset allocation services upon subscription, helping you manage your investments with ease under the CIES.  (For detailed advantages about the service, please read the Unrivalled Advantages section relating to SHK CIES Discretionary Portfolio Management Services.)

2. How do SHKFM select specialied investment advisers for you?
A: We strictly select specialised investment advisers through due diligence investigations that examine their track records and investment procedures (e.g. company visits and market analysis).

3. Does the investment threshold of HK$10 million apply to me only or also to my entire family?
A*: You are eligible to apply for investment immigration if you meet the investment threshold of HK$10 million and other requirements specified by the Immigration Department. Your spouse and children under the age of 18 (if applicable) may apply for entry for residence as dependants if your application for investment immigration is accepted.

4. When can the HK$10 million investment in Hong Kong be freely disposed?
A*: You are eligible to apply for unconditional stay in Hong Kong seven years after you have invested in permissible assets and contributed to Hong Kong’s economy. If approved, you will be free to deal with the funds you have invested.

5. Do I need to cancel my People's Republic of China (“PRC”) passport after applying for investment immigration to Hong Kong?
A*: No. You and your family members are required to hold valid PRC passports or permits for exit and entry of Mainland China and valid Hong Kong ID cards to visit Hong Kong through e-channels within seven years of obtaining Hong Kong ID cards.

6. Are Mainland Chinese who have become Hong Kong residents permitted to obtain visas to other countries in Hong Kong?
A*: Yes. Mainland Chinese staying in Hong Kong as Hong Kong residents can apply for a visa using a PRC passport from the consulate or representative office of each country in Hong Kong. Applicants must hold valid passports, Hong Kong ID cards and other supporting documents and forms required by other countries. Visas will be issued in Hong Kong and you do not need to go back to Mainland China if you meet the application requirements of the country.
